The descendants of Edouard & Marie Louise VandenDorpe have become a large family and that makes it increasingly difficult for each of us to know one another.
This website is a work in progress that is intended to celebrates our family with histories, genealogies, old pictures, maps showing the places our families lived, old movies, and the old stories we remember. It also provides a way for us to understand how we are related to one another, to find one another in today's world, and to correct mistakes and omissions where this website got it wrong.
I think all of us would like to know our origin stories and to find others within our family who can share insights into that story. Every life is a treasure and the best of it is our relationships with one another. I hope this website will build and strengthen those relationships. Please help us to achieve this goal.

FAMILY MEMBERS ONLY page. At the moment the rest of the website is focused on Oscar's family because that is all that I know. In the future I would like to add sections for anyone who wants to provides data on their portion of the family. I also think that it might be OK to create a directory of FaceBook pages for those who would like to communicate in that way.
While I do not approve of the Facebook business model, I concede that Facebook does fill a most important niche - in fact it is the same niche this Edouardian website was created to fill but in safer, less manipulative way than Facebook does it. However, Facebook can have utility for our purpose as long as we are careful. If others think it appropriate, we could create a directory of your Facebook pages that people could share by passing through our secure space. If we did this, Facebook would be the one and only occasion when address data (in this case the names of Facebook web pages) would be stored within the Edouardian website. In all social media applications please use the phrase "Edouardian" to refer to the Vandendorpe.info website.
